Coastguards head inland for cliff rescue

Coastguard was contacted by Tayside Police and Montrose Fire and Rescue Service to request help in recovering a man who had gone into the water after his dog.
Forth Coastguard sent cliff rescue teams from Montrose and Stonehaven and they recovered the man from the waters edge up the cliff where he was checked over by ambulance crew. Fortunately he was cold but uninjured. The dog will require veterinary treatment but was recovered from the water. Forth Coastguard Watch Manager said:
“Don’t put yourself at risk by attempting a rescue. The water is especially cold at this time of the year which only adds to the dangers of going in after an animal or another person. Dog walkers should keep dogs on a lead near cliffs and deep water” Read more on the MCA website…
